  • West Midlands Police

    On Friday 10th March students will have the opportunity to attend an online event with West Midlands Police talking about careers.  It begins at 1.15pm until 1.45.  It will be held in the Design ICT Suite.  As numbers will be limited students are required to book their place with Miss Armstrong via Teams.  We suggest that students come straight to the event and collect lunch afterwards; the canteen will be notified.

  • NATIONAL CAREERS WEEK

    At Limehurst our intent is to provide our students with a careers curriculum which they enjoy studying and which helps them to become confident, able learners who are well prepared to be good citizens and prepared for the next stage of their education.   

     National Careers Week is 6th – 11th March.  To celebrate this we have activities in school during the week that focus on linking curriculum learning to careers.  Please find attached the plan for the week and the #BeSomeone Events List with links to book these free events.

    This opportunity is from Samworth Brothers; a food producer based in Melton Mowbray.  They are holding a virtual open day Monday 12th December 5-6pm.  

    The opportunities they are showcasing are aimed at post 18 careers, but the event will be a chance to see what roles and career pathways are available in the food industry.  The poster for the event is here, where you will see a QR code where you can register your interest.

  • Future Elite Sports Soccer Schools

    Next academic year Brooksby Campus are running both a boys and girls football team (16–18-year-olds) which will be run by their partners Future Elite. These have a great history of providing excellent coaching and footballing opportunities (including securing places in the USA after college) while working alongside the college education staff supporting the academic content. The courses on offer alongside the football are the BTEC Level 3 in Sport (Coaching & Development) and BTEC Level 3 Sport Science.

     

    If students are interested, they can use this link to sign up to their next education taster day and trial.  (Apply - Future Elite Sports Soccer Schools (futureeliteacademy.co.uk).  On this day students will meet both coaches and some members of the academic team to gain a greater understanding of the offer. They will take part in a training session after which they will have a short talk about the courses, progression routes and what SMB can do to support them on their journey into adulthood and the professional workplace!   • Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition

    A team of Loughborough University students have been invited to take part in the prestigious Royal Society's Summer Science Exhibition.  The work they are showcasing is around creating catalysts to use biomass for a sustainable future.  As part of their preparations they have collaborated with a group of Limehurst's Y8 students to appraise and give feedback on the design of their website.  Our students have also visited the Loughborough University to look at and interact with the students and their exhibition stand they will be using for the Summer Science Exhibition.
