Welcome to the Design Department!

Our Design Department consists of two exciting subject areas:

Design and Technology and Art and Design.

Through these subjects pupils are able to experience and study:

Resistant Materials; Food Technology; Art and Textiles.

Our groups are mixed ability and classes are kept small to ensure a safe working environment.

Pupils are shown skills and techniques in all areas by doing fun and interesting projects designed to inspire and excite. They are taught to safely use a range of tools, machines and equipment, and to realise their ideas in a variety of materials and media.

We aim to promote progression in practical, designing, creative skills and knowledge, throughout Key Stages 3 and 4, equipping pupils for future education and training within the subject and for life!

Design subjects are seen as key to developing and promoting transferable skills.

This half-term, Year 10s have been studying the new Food preparation and Nutrition GCSE which includes diverse skills like jointing a chicken. This enables students to understand the costings and how it is an economical means to purchasing and cooking a chicken.
