This unit is made up of the first part of Section B of Paper 3 of the AQA GCSE Geography specification.  Students study a range of fieldwork skills and techniques relating to unfamiliar fieldwork.

 

Intent

Knowledge acquired:

• The difference between primary and secondary data and how this data can be collected.
• The different ways in which data can be presented and analysed.

Skills developed:

• Ability to analyse and interpret data using appropriate statistical techniques
• Ability to analyses and evaluate methods of data collection and presentation.

Understanding:

• Ability to understand the most appropriate methods of data collection and presentation.

• Summative assessment in Autumn Term of Year 11, after the remainder of the fieldwork part of the specification has been completed.
• Assessed as part of December Mock in Year 11.
• Final assessment: assessed within Paper 3 (sat in June of Year 11)

• Used to identify areas of weakness in terms of knowledge and skills.  Addressed throughout the remainder of the course.
