Leicestershire Cares is a local, award winning, charity that Limehurst Academy have worked with for several years to provide employer and employee encounters. At the end of February, years 7, 8, and 9 took part in a Speedy Speakers session. Three Leicestershire Cares business members each spoke for 5 minutes each about their careers and sectors. The speakers were: Jamie Mollart - creative director at Rock Kitchen Harris, Carolyn Thornley Yates - head of mortgage proposition at Hinkley & Rugby Building Society and Ian Thompson - solicitor at Knights plc. Students were able to put questions to the speakers afterwards and take away some very useful tips such as making the most of mentors and networking, and understanding that it is OK to change careers pathways but always enjoy the process of learning.

Taster Sessions will be replacing Discovery Day which normally takes place in June. Additionally, schools will not be able to book multiple students onto this event, students must book themselves as individuals to allow fair chance for people to book their places.
